Project objectives:
• To promote the benefits of digital technologies to older people and disadvantaged groups to encourage independent living, self help, greater home security and therefore contentment and safety of these groups within communities.
• To develop an online community for older people adding value to existing services and bringing isolated people out of their homes and into the community via the Internet.
• To provide participants with the confidence and competence to use ICT in a way that enhances and extends their learning.
• To narrow the gap between older people and new technology.
• To provide an opportunity for older people to keep in touch with family and friends locally, nationally and internationally whilst also providing the tool to make new friends and widen the social circle. Accessing online shopping and banking services are of particular interest for the future housebound.
• To develop a community infrastructure through ICT to relieve dependency on paid staff and unpaid carers.
• Work with local organisations and community activists through community development methodologies.
• To develop a common voice for community groups.
• To encourage partnerships between organisations and EverybodyOnline.
• To create sustainable strategies.
• To build governance of communities through enabling older people to provide and refresh content on their website themselves, promoting equality, inclusion and respect.
